Main Elements Unicorns

Meet Octicorn, the funny, sweet, and disarming character who is a champion for anyone who has ever felt a little bit different. And isn’t that everyone? This is a self-published success story from debut authors Justin Lowe and Kevin Diller.

Octicorn is half octopus, half unicorn, half confused . . . which sometimes makes it hard to fit in.

But maybe that’s not such a bad thing

I decided to do a year of unicorn books and for some reason I start off my picture books with a horned octopus! But it was surprisingly cute as Octicorn tries to figure out where he fits in. He also tries to figure out how his parents met (masquerade ball perhaps?). Some unicorns do show up in the book, as well as some octopi, but he doesn't quite belong with either of them, perhaps, just maybe, you'd be his friend? After all, he has a lot of talents, like lots of arms for hugging!

Normally I dislike childish artwork, I mean this looks like a 5 year old doodled it out, but it given the wacky concept it kind of works. After all we are talking about the child of a unicorn and an octopus, it would be even weirder to have full colour, detailed backgrounds, and that simplistic style makes quite the impact on the hugging page!

I think any kid that loves unicorns would enjoy this one too.
