The Hidden Mountain Pass

You slide down a smooth gemface to arrive at the bottom of the valley. Along the way you'd scratched your hand on a sharp rock, but otherwise you arrived in one piece. And you'd not arrived alone. The sounds of your scrambling had attracted three hunter cats.

They looked at you with wide eyed curiosity. So long as you held still, they would come right up to you to sniff at this new arrival to their world. But the moment you moved they would flinch back and watch from a distance.

You wondered how often creatures from outside the valley found their way here. Only winged creatures would have easy access...then it hit you. There was no way you were going to be able to climb back up the way you came down. It wasn't so much a case of creatures not being able to get in, you were pretty sure that there was not way for creatures to get out! At least not at this end of the valley.

As you pondered your predicament, a couple more hunters took the place of the original three. How big was this valley, you began to question, if about twenty hunter cats could surive here. They all looked well fed. Looking down the valley you discovered you could not see the end of its glittering brilliance. No, not quite, you could see where it turned.

And another hunter cat. It was heading in that direction too. So patting the closest one on the head, you start off after the playful bright red male.
