The Hidden Mountain Pass

Oh how glorious it was to be amongst the trees and the grass and the stones that were a dull boring gray. The crack in the cliff was indeed an exit from the valley. Probably only those cats that lived nearby knew about it. You wanted to give that small female a great big hug. Glimpsing movement, you reach out and grab the furry form.

Just as quickly you let go. It wasn't the grey female, this one had nebulous colouring, and more importantly, big spikes upon her back. You rub your chest where you'd managed to stab yourself. As the female dashed off, another female came in. She was a plain brown, but had some kind of tag hanging around her neck. You reach out to read it.

This is Sorceress Colours. She is special amongst the Realm's hunter cats as she bears the colours based on the Realm Keeper's name, SunBlind. How the Realm Keeper of the EverRealm took the colour from the name is unknown, but the result of the spell was this cat.

That was interesting. You also realize that this was the first time you'd learnt the name of one of the cats. You wonder if the Realm Keeper had taken the time to name all of them, or if there were so many that she just let them name themselves in their own feline language.

A blue male dashed out from some bushes (ah, how nice to see leafy, rustling bushes after those sparkling, tinkling ones). He has obviously come to play with the Sorceress Colours.

She was quite willing to join in the game. After settling down on some comfy moss to rest your aching bones, you watch the cats in their play till they collapse in sleep. Looked like a good idea to you, so snuggling down onto your soft bed, you close your eyes and nap as well.

When you open your eyes, you were surprised to see a hunter cat grinning down at you. She had just popped out of nowhere.

The next thing you knew, she had vanished. You scan the area around be she just disappeared. There was no way she could have moved that fast, was there? If cats could laugh, you were certain she was hiding somewhere laughing at you right now.

A violet female watched the proceedings with amusement. She was probably aware of the trick of the other and knew exactly the secret behind it. She thought it was funny that you should have been tricked by it.

The male cat with the dragonfly wings did not appear so amused. Actually, after you had gotten up and started walking around, you came upon, and him he seemed downright scared of you. He crouched down close to the ground and eyed you warily.

What you didn't know was that it was his nature, always sneaking about, prefering this crouched position to that of any other. What he didn't care much for was your hand coming close to him as you spoke soft soothing words to him. His lips pulled back in a quick hiss and he dashed off through the bushes. You felt bad about scaring him, so when you started exploring again you when in the other direction.
